Urban Kasi Revolution, a non profit organisation (NPO) based in Philippi East, Lower Crossroads, hosted a candle prayer service on Sunday 30 October for Grade 12 learners from the surrounding schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prayer was at Vuyiseka Sport Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was organised to seek divine intervention and to ensure that the leaners pass their matric examinations and cast away evil spirits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The year had been a tough one for some Grade 12 learners with reports ungodly spirits at their schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In some instances, learners complained about headaches and fits, incidents that we associated with evil spirits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations getting underway on Monday 31 October, learners from schools such as Phakama, Vuyiseka, and Sinethemba Secondary School attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NPO aims to assist learners from the less fortunate communities by ensuring that they are issued with Identity Documents (ID\u2019s). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the organisation\u2019s slogan \u201cCommitted to break the chains of poverty\u201d, executive member Monde Seti, said the organisation\u2019s vision is to help the downtrodden in different communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur government is not coming closure to communities so to understand their needs and many lack a knowledge about their rights. As the organisation we want bridge that gap and take our people to the right direction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seti said soon they will be working with an organisation to train young people in skills such as plumbing and electricity to put food onto their tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe know not every kid will be good at school, and those learners end up abandoning learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
