As the winds of change continue to sweep through at Nyanga Police Station, the local community policing forum (CPF) is concerned about the effects this will have on the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the departure of long-serving station commander Brig Vuyisile Ncata earlier in the year, Nyanga Police Station was left without a permanent leader for several months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Col Siphiwo Sitonga held the reigns until the end of October, with Brig Jan Alexander officially installed as the new station commander last week. The move brought to an end months of uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the CPF is not entirely happy with the new commander. They made an impassioned plea for him to sort out some internal squabbles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nyanga CPF secretary Dumisani Qwebe said they want Alexander and his management to normalise the working conditions at the station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have noticed that since Alexander arrived at the station people have been complaining about poor services. They accused the station of taking their time or not picking up the phones. Also, there are delays when police vans are called out to crime scenes. For now, we need him to look at that and resolve those issues. We will decide if we accept him when we see the results,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qwebe said the CPF would closely monitor all his movements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alexander told City Vision<\/em><\/span> that he is aware of the complaints and is committed to dealing with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He added that were tabled by the CPF during a meeting at the station
