Four men were arrested and four others were on the run following the rape of a woman in Crossroads on Sunday 20 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attack occurred at Makhandlela Crescent, where the victim rents a house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nyanga Police Station Vispol officer Capt Nasley Heynes said a rape case was opened and is under investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Heynes, only three people were arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThree male suspects between the ages of 19 and 21 have been arrested,\u201d said Heynes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident sparked outrage from the community, with some residents appealing for the law to take its course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ward 36 councillor Nceba Ntshweza said the incident occurred on Sunday night. It is believed the suspects were dropped at the victim\u2019s house by a Toyota Avanza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe victim was sleeping in her bedroom while her two children were sleeping in the dining room,\u201d Ntshweza related. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the victim heard a car sound in front of the house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While listening to the sound she heard a knock at the window, looked out and saw three men, and one of them was pointing a firearm at her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They ordered her to open the door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When she resisted they broke the glass. They threatened her with the gun and demanded she open the door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This she did, fearing for her life, and it is alleged the men walked in and ransacked the shack before raping the victim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ntshweza said the victim believes the vehicle returned with another five men who also raped her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile they were busy raping her she said she could hear the car hooting outside. After they finished all three went out to the car. A few minutes later they came back with another five men, who also raped her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the culprits left, said Ntshweza, the victim stood up to check the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next day she opened a case at Nyanga Police Station. On her way back from the station she decided to make a quick stop at Junction Mall. The move paid dividends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile she was walking around the mall she spotted one of the suspects,\u201d Ntshweza said. She contacted a resident while keeping an eye on him. He said the resident arrived with other people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn their arrival, they saw the suspect crossing Govan Mbeki Road to Crossroads. They then informed the police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
