Nyanga police are investigating a double murder and five attempted murder cases following a shooting incident that took place at Mau-Mau in Nyanga on Saturday 28 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The motive is still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Malcolm Pojie said preliminary information indicates that the officers responded to a shooting incident at about 00:50 on Saturday at 2nd Avenue Nyanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUpon their arrival they discovered that one person was already deceased while the other six were transported to a local hospital, all suffering multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFurther information revealed that a second victim succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries later that same morning at about 04:00,\u201d said Pojie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Pojie three victims were discharged later in the day and two were transferred to Groote Schuur Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive form part of the probe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nyanga Community Policing Forum (CPF) secretary Dumisani Qwebe said they were shocked by the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that they are trying to establish the motive for the attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know what really happened. But, as community leaders, we will convene a meeting during the week to try and find out what was the motive for the killing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qwebe stated that fighting is not a solution. He called on people to solve their disputes amicably. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur concern is, maybe the family or friends of the victims will want to retaliate and it ends up becoming a war. We want to stop it now. Killing or fighting is not a solution,\u201d said Qwebe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
