The Provincial Community Policing Forum (CPF) has condemned the murder of four people believed to be two couples in the Covid-19 informal settlement in Driftsands, near Mfuleni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The quartet was killed on Wednesday 1 February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their bodies were discovered by residents on Thursday 2 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gruesome incident has left the community reeling in shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The four were found in two different shacks in the area with their bodies floating in blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police told City Vision<\/em> they found eight and 11 cartridges at the two scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Provincial CPF chair Francina Lucas said they condemn the ongoing killings around the Cape Flats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe call for swift action by the police to arrest the perpetrators of this crime. They need to be hauled before a court of law and answer for their actions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lucas said communities were under siege from violence and criminality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She also called on residents to come forward anonymously with information that could bring perpetrators to book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lucas also encouraged communities to join local structures to fight crime in their respective areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The culprits of this gruesome act are still at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Western Cape police spokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa said Mfuleni police, as well as crime scene experts, were still scouring a crime scene in Driftsands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReports from the area indicate that a vehicle had entered the Covid-19 informal settlement at about 23:00. Shortly there after, gunshots were heard and the vehicle left the area,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Potelwa said on Thursday morning residents of the informal settlement discovered two bodies of a man and a woman with gunshot wounds in a shack and alerted the police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n She said a few metres from the one dwelling, inside another shack two more bodies of a man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Potelwa said the victims are yet to be identified. Detectives from the provincial serious and violent crimes are probing the murders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She urged anyone with information that could assist the police investigations to contact police on 08600
