Nkomo said she was delighted with the material. She applauded the local ward councillor for assisting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe whole thing came at the right time. I was struggling with how to feed the children as some of the groceries were there. All the stuff I received will make a change at the centre,\u201d said Nkomo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the centre is home to 55 children during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ward 37 councillor Sandile Martin expressed his gratitude to the Gift of the Givers for the support. He described the centre as \u201cvery helpful\u201d to the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe see the centre as a safe place to keep the children. As a community, we always prioritise the needs of the children because we want them to be safe. It is for that reason I saw it important to assist where I can,\u201d said Martin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the community to stay vigilant during the load shedding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople must ensure that they take off all the plugs during the load shedding because they don\u2019t know what will happen when the power comes back,\u201d he concluded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
