Following the
\ntorching of two men at Malema informal settlement, the Nyanga Community Policing
\nForum (CPF) has called for calm, citing the killings as barbaric. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two men,
\naccused of robbery, were reportedly set alight on Tuesday 13 June. In a video
\nthat went viral on social media, residents can be seen chatting to each other
\nwhile the bodies of two men burn down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dumisani Qwebe,
\nNyanga CPF secretary, described residents\u2019 behaviour as \u201cuncalled
\nfor\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe community
\nmust refrain from taking the law into their own hands. What they did was bad.
\nWe have law enforcement officers whose primary job is to keep peace in our
\nsocieties,\u201d said Qwebe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the
\ncommunity to work with the police to fight crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qwebe stated that
\nit was everybody\u2019s responsibility to fight crime in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial police
\nspokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg said Nyanga police are investigating two counts
\nof murder. He said the incident happened at about 16:05 near the Philippi
\nrailway station. \u201cThe circumstances surrounding the incident are under
\ninvestigation. The motive for the attack is yet to be established and arrests
