\nAmalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) is reeling following the shooting and
\nkilling of two members in Langa yesterday (15 June). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were
\nreportedly gunned down near a local retailer while sitting in their vehicle at
\nKing Langalibalele Drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
CATA spokesperson
\nNkululeko Sityebi said, as the association, they are still shocked. He refused
\nto speculate the motive for the attack and urged the law enforcement officers
\nto leave no stone unturned to bring perpetrators to book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has become
\na norm for our members to die from bullets in Langa. Two months ago, some of
\nour members were gunned down in the area. Even now, as leaders of the
\nassociation are trying to ascertain the main cause of these shootings,\u201d
\nsaid Sityebi. However, he did not specify the number of the killed members. He
\nstated that, as an association, they are sending sincere condolences to the
\naffected families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial police
\nspokesperson W\/O Joseph Swartbooi said circumstances surrounding the incident
\nare still under investigation. He said Langa officers are investigating two
\ncounts of murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swartbooi said
\nofficers responded to a complaint on Thursday 15 June, and drove to Zone 16,
\nwhere the long-distance taxis are parking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201d Upon arrival
\nat the crime scene they found the bodies of two males inside a white double cab
\nToyota Hilux who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. The victims
\nwere declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swartbooi said
\nunknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
