The Gugulethu
\nDevelopment Forum (GDF) has criticised the killing of five people in KTC
\nyesterday (25 September) evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims were
\nreportedly sitting in two separate vehicles on Fenqe Street when a group of men
\ntravelling in a minibus taxi opened fire on them and fled the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial police
\nspokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa says police received a call on Monday evening.
\nUpon their arrival, she says they discovered the bodies of five men with
\ngunshot wounds inside two vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReports at the disposal of police indicate
\nthat the victims were sitting inside two vehicles when another vehicle with
\narmed men emerged and shots were fired at the occupants of the two vehicles.
\nFive men between the ages of 46 and 52 were subsequently killed,\u201d adds Potelwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident is the
\nthird in less than a week in the Gugulethu Policing Precinct. On Friday 22
\nSeptember, two people were gunned down at the corner of NY43 and NY44 in
\nGugulethu. The next day, a man who sells amagwinya along Klipfontein Road near
\nGugulethu Cemetery, was also shot and killed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
GDG secretary Vincent Domingo says the killings
\nare alarming. He appeals to the government to deploy more officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn
\nGugulethu, we have a shortage of police vans and manpower. A station like
\nGugulethu is supposed to have sufficient resources and staff members, but we
\ndon\u2019t see that. We have made calls to the provincial and national offices, but
