Following a business robbery on Wednesday, 18 October, things are back to normal at Gugulethu Mall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centre manager Reginald Bunton described the incident as \u201cone of those things that happen at every mall. \u201cWe continued to operate yesterday,\u201d he told City Vision<\/em>. He added: \u201cIt was the first incident after such a long time. I can\u2019t even remember when was the last incident but everything is fine now\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, a 36-year-old complainant and two assistants were inside an undisclosed store when three armed men entered the shop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey pointed at them with firearms, demanding money and cellular telephones. One of them went straight to the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of cash, while the other one searched one of the assistants and took his cellular phone. After that, they left and fled the scene. No shots were fired,\u201d said Western Cape police spokesperson Capt F.C Van Wyk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the police are investigating a case of business robbery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gugulethu Development Forum secretary Vincent Domingo condemned the incident and said it tarnished the neighbourhood\u2019s image. He urged the community to remain vigilant, especially at this time of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe know it is that time of the year when criminals are targeting business centres to make quick money. Police visibility is important, especially around business centres. We would be pleased if we could have a satellite station near the mall to ensure that it is safe,\u201d said Domingo.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
