Community leader and leader of Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) from Mpumelelo Xakekile Branch Madoda Majikijela described the shooting and killing of a man in front of his family at N2 Gate Way on Sunday 22 October as the final straw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Majikijela said unknown men came to the deceased\u2019s house under false pretence and shot him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey did it right in front of his wife and children before fleeing the scene. It seems the almost indiscriminate killing of people in Langa is becoming the norm. We used to hear of shooting incidents in areas such as Nyanga or Khayelitsha, but not here. Langa is just not the same anymore.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Majikijela said lack of police visibility enables the criminals to run roughshod. He appealed for more police patrols, stop-and-search and other police operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Langa police spokesperson Capt Nondumiso Paul confirmed officers were called to Block One at the N2 Gateway. On arrival, they saw a man lying face-down outside the house with multiple gun wounds to the back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
