As the schools in the coastal regions opened yesterday (17 January), it was heart-warming to see all the learners going back to school donning their beautiful school uniforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the experience of returning to class was not as pleasant for those repeating their grades. It can never be nice seeing ex-classmates moving to the next grade while you are stuck in the same class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same cannot be said about our matriculants, the class of 2023 as they anxiously wait for the release of their results tomorrow (19 January).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wait has been long and the class of 2023 is dying to see their results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the matriculants are not only worried about seeing their final results but also are concerned about the community\u2019s reaction if they fail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a crucial period for our children. It\u2019s not the right time to chastise them. As a society, we have a collective responsibility to support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regardless of how a parent feels, venting is not the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep in mind that children are sensitive. They are vulnerable to suicide. We\u2019ve heard stories of learners hanging themselves or drinking poison because they were chastised or mocked by their friends for failing matric.
