Langa will see new and improved roadways thanks to investments in two wards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These upgrades will not only improve safety for motoris but also the community at large. Roads in Ward 51 and 52 in Langa are under construction with officials erecting road signs and a traffic circle to minimise traffic and accidents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ward 51 councillor Lwazi Phakade said the development is much needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the project started last month and is expected to be completed by the end of this month, if everything goes well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is a lot that we are going to do in both wards. At King Langalibalele Drive, Vokwana Way and Zone 21 area we are intending to do pedestrian crossings, speed humps, pavements. At the corner of King Langalibalele and Washington Street we will construct a roundabout for motorists to control the traffic. There are some roads which have been identified and will be narrowed and widening the pavement,\u201d explained Phakade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the intention is to control traffic and protect pedestrians. He stated that the project cost is about R1 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI took out R500 000 from my ward allocation, also Ward 52 councillor Thembelani Nyamakazi allocated the same amount from his ward. King Langalibalele Drive and Vokwana Way are both in my ward. While Zone 21 is under Nyamakazi\u2019s ward,\u201d he stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Resident Pumie Mzinyathi who resides at King Langalibalele described the construction as a great initiative. She said the area will be looking pretty cool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
