The first group of residents from informal settlements in Gugulethu, Crossroads and some from Mfuleni are expected to be relocated to Bosasa Link Project in Mfuleni early next month to pave the way for the construction of the MyCiTI road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The residents will be relocated into fully serviced sites with a temporal structure. At least 350 households are expected to be relocated to this project. (\u2018Mfuleni integration plan underway\u2019. City Vision<\/span>, 22 February).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ward 114 councillor Ernest Madikane said the construction started two weeks ago. He said the City of Cape Town will relocate only the people residing along the main roads to be able to construct the transit line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere are 84 people coming from both Ward 36 (Crossroads) and 41 (Gugulethu). The rest of the number will be coming from old informal settlements and backyarders in Mfuleni. This is Phase 1 of the project. And Phase 2 is expected to start as soon as Phase 1 is completed at the end of July,\u201d said Madikane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said the City is currently busy building the temporary structures for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ward 41 councillor Lindile Sonyoka confirmed the development, citing that all the beneficiaries from his ward are from Phola Park. However, he was unsure about the specific date for the relocation of the beneficiaries other than that it was next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe area that is affected in my ward is Phola Park, which is along the main road.
