The audience was entertained by music group Abantakwethu Brothers from Makhaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centre\u2019s manager Nolwandle Qhaba said the event was special, showcasing as it did the skills its clients are learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div contenteditable=\"false\" data-embed24=\"Images\" data-pos=\"middle\" id=\"embed_9a931090\">\n<div class=\"slide\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-smallsrc=\"https:\/\/cdn.24.co.za\/files\/Cms\/General\/d\/12245\/6bffe3af1c0541f3a8e09e40870bf26d.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/cityvision\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/d800dd2c08b5426c9da8acc8f28ed922.jpg\" title=\"Nolwandle Qhaba, manager of KwaNothemba Workshop for the Disabled \"><p><\/p>\n<div class=\"caption\">Nolwandle Qhaba, manager of KwaNothemba Workshop for the Disabled <\/div>\n<div class=\"img_accreditation\"><span class=\"source\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><span class=\"photographer\" style=\"display:none;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She described the centre as a hub for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have 75 students at the centre who are acquiring various skills including woodwork, sewing and art. She said they are only funded by the Provincial Department of Social Development. \u201cAs we speak we haven\u2019t had electricity since the arrival of the Pandemic informal settlement in 2021 which is near our centre. They illegally connected the electricity to our danger box and Eskom had switched our electricity off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student Anam Dani (21), who started at the centre three years ago, described the centre as a safe space. He said he and others there get all the attention they deserve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn my first year I was doing woodwork, and in my second year I was sewing.\u201d This year I\u2019m doing arts and crafts. We are happy here because we are empowered and motivated all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qhaba pointed out that there was school transport for the learners.
