CAPE TOWN –<\/strong> As runners, walkers and everyday South Africans set personal goals, a new local platform is asking them to go the distance for learners and schools too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Cape Town-born education crowdfunding platform is calling on South Africans to turn their next run, walk or personal fitness challenge into support for learners and schools facing real education needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched to create a more transparent and accessible way for communities to raise funds for education-related causes, GetGo Fund<\/a> is now introducing #GetGoTheDistance, a sports-driven public initiative that invites people to use their own movement goals to rally donations and awareness for education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With race season energising Cape Town\u2019s running community, the campaign taps into a spirit already familiar to many South Africans. Through #GetGoTheDistance, participants can choose an education campaign listed on the GetGo Fund platform, pledge a run, walk or personal challenge to it, share the link with their communities, and encourage friends, family and supporters to contribute what they can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign is not limited to marathon runners. A 5km, a weekly run club session, a long walk, a gym challenge or any personal movement goal can form part of the call. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Help South Africans grow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the initiative is a growing concern that many learners, families and schools continue to face funding gaps that directly affect educational opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That concern is already being reflected in the kinds of campaigns gaining traction on GetGo Fund. In Cape Town, one campaign is helping Masiphumelele High School retain a dedicated educator whose work supports learners inside and beyond the classroom. Another is raising support for a learner at Capella House to continue her primary schooling in an environment where she is flourishing. Together, these examples show the range of needs the platform is designed to support, from strengthening school capacity to helping individual learners remain on their educational path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
