The Shoprite Group has partnered with the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service to donate Easter treats and personal care items to 275 vulnerable children across four childcare homes in the Western Cape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donation, handed over on Thursday morning (2 April) at Holy Cross Educare in Belhar, aims to spread joy ahead of the Easter weekend whilst supporting children and babies who may be facing a challenging time without family support or due to financial hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving back to community <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service<\/a>, said it was heartwarming to give back to the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The City’s fire and rescue service collaborated with Shoprite in bringing smiles to children at educare centres across the city. These unsuspecting kids will receive Easter eggs, hot cross buns, personal care items, and more,” said Carelse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added City firefighters had put their hands in their own pockets to donate a large number of marshmallow boxes to the children, demonstrating their personal commitment to the cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Easter initiative builds on the successful partnership established last Christmas, when the two organisations donated festive treats to more than 120 children at six care facilities across Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fire and rescue service, recognised for playing an important role beyond emergency response in supporting and uplifting communities, has proven to be an ideal partner for spreading joy through thoughtful giving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Shoprite, communities are at the heart of their business as customers, suppliers, employees, and partners. The retailer remains committed to supporting the communities it serves through various Act For Change initiatives, which focus on promoting wellbeing, safety and sustainability.
