Nine died, while one victim was left fighting for his life. (\u201cShebeen mass murder accused abandons bail application\u201d, <em>City Vision<\/em>, 5 February).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bail-hearing-set-for-2-march\">Bail hearing set for 2 March<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>National Prosecuting Authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/cityvision\/unpaid-funeral-claims-raise-questions-about-shosha-undertaker-in-town-two\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"263483\">NPA<\/a>) Western Cape spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/mg.co.za\/tag\/eric-ntabazalila\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/mg.co.za\/tag\/eric-ntabazalila\/\">Eric Ntabazalila<\/a> said the 20-year-old accused is expected to appear in court again on Monday 2 March for a bail hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe has opted to defend himself against the Schedule 6 charges he is facing,\u201d Ntabazalila said. He added that the co-accused, Bheki Manxiwa, had abandoned his bid for bail and that his case was postponed to Thursday 16 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-community-reaction-to-the-marikana-tavern-mass-shooting\">\u201cCommunity reaction to the Marikana tavern mass shooting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A community leader described the arrest of the second suspect as \u201cgreat news\u201d and praised the police officers for their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe arrest gives us hope. We want the suspects to tell us the truth \u2014 nothing but the truth. Who instructed them to go around collecting money from local shops? Who supplied them with guns to shoot people? We want them to rot in jail.
