The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV<\/a>) in Langa was more than a commemorative campaign. In fact, it was a powerful gathering of hearts, voices, and action.

At the centre of this movement stood a meaningful partnership between local NGO Langaformen, Octotel (a leading South African fibre provider), and their connectivity partner, Cell C. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These organisations shared a unified vision. That vision was focused on fostering safer and more empowered communities within the areas they serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This movement was anchored by a significant collaboration involving Langaformen, a community-based organisation rooted in the heart of Langa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rasing protectors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Langaformen works tirelessly to raise \u201cprotectors\u201d – men who lead with accountability, vulnerability, and responsibility in the fight against GBV.

During this round of the programme, Octotel <\/a>and Cell C showed up not just with connectivity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also brought genuine presence, resources, and long-term commitment to community upliftment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partnering with Langaformen and Cell C in this fight against GBV reflects our belief that real connectivity means showing up for communities in their moments of need. The GBV awareness event brought together a wide network of stakeholders \u2014 including local SAPS representatives, the City of Cape Town, community organisations, and residents. This helped form a powerful circle of solidarity. In addition, this alliance demonstrated that true connectivity extends beyond infrastructure. It is about linking people to support, information, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGBV is a societal issue that often begins at home and is normalised in front of children. As part of its contribution, Octotel is enabling zero-rated access to emergency and crisis GBV support numbers. This ensures that survivors and those seeking help can reach essential services without data barriers. It also provides a critical lifeline in moments of crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical support<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Through practical support such as care packs for men and women and digital access to support services, Octotel and Cell C reinforced their commitment to meaningful action. Furthermore, their visible presence on the ground showed they focused on action, not symbolism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Octotel, this partnership represents far more than sponsorship – it reflects a long-term commitment to social transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
