As millions across the country celebrated Heritage Day by showcasing their heritage and culture, members of Mangwana Foundation in Nyanga <\/a>used their time to support and entertain people living with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nyanga-based Foundation helps in the community whenever there is a need and last week was no different as they handed books and food parcels to the disabled community. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was held at Nolitha Creche in Zwelitsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sello Mangwana, the founder of the Foundation, described the initiative as a charity drive. He said the objective was to support and entertain them. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some of them are neglected by their families and others are abused. We wanted to comfort and show them love. We wanted to motivate them to not give up,” said Mangwana.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mangwana said they gave them motivational books with motivational quotes and short Bible verses. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged the community to stop discriminating against people living with disabilities.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wendy Mutsi (49) said the event was uplifting and she came out motivated.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sometimes we need people who can understand us. We need people who can appreciate and respect us. The Foundation showed us love. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some of us were able to express how we felt because we were given a platform to do so,” said Mutsi.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She urged parents to stop keeping their disabled children indoors, but allow them to grow and mingle with other kids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
