Golden Arrow Bus Services <\/a>(GABS), said eight people were injured on Monday during two separate petrol bombing attacks. One bus was completely destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAccording to Dyke-Beyer attackers did not stop there and attempted again on Tuesday. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Golden Arrow can confirm a failed petrol bombing on Tuesday 22 July in which three passengers were injured. Injured passengers were transported to medical facilities. The motive is unknown at this stage however given the location of the incidents they may be linked to the protests regarding MyCiTi construction taking place in the area.” \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dyke-Beyer condemned the attacks and said it “callous and cruel”.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We rely on the authorities to determine why these attacks are taking place, and to apprehend those responsible and ensure that everyone is able to move freely and safely within the area,” she stated.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sgt Wesley Twigg, provincial police spokesperson, confirmed that a malicious damage to property case was registered on Monday for investigation. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gugulethu Development Forum (GDF) secretary Vincent Domingo slammed the attack on GABS citing that it is uncalled for.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the attack on public transport doesn’t bring any solution, instead it “makes things worse”. TO PAGE 3\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domingo urged the government to dispatch more law enforcement officers to monitor the situation.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is unfortunate for the Golden Arrow to be targeted even though it has nothing to do with whatever was happening in that area. The worst part is that it is our people who are the victims. If Golden Arrow suspends its service on that route, our people will be affected. And most people who are using public transport are the working class,” said Domingo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
