Eskom is taking precautionary measures ahead of severe weather conditions expected to impact parts of Cape Town this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 4 warning, forecasting disruptive rainfall from Thursday 3 July to Sunday 6 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eskom is currently facing a backlog of faults, with several communities already suffering from unplanned power outages. The areas most affected include Bloekombos, Blue Downs, Delft, Dunoon, Eerste River, Khayelitsha, Phillippi, Uitsig and Wallacedene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The utility has warned that the anticipated storm may hamper ongoing efforts to restore electricity in affected areas and could delay the response to new outages that may arise during the period of inclement weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement on Wednesday, Eskom urged customers to exercise patience, noting that teams will be working in hazardous and challenging conditions to maintain service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We ask for the public’s understanding as we prioritise safety while continuing with restoration efforts,” Eskom said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The utility has pledged to keep the public informed of developments and to restore power as swiftly as conditions allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the event of an electricity fault, customers are encouraged to log a fault and treat all electricity appliances as live until their power is restored,”\u200e says an Eskom spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To report a fault, download the MyEskom customer App, which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store, or use the Alfred Chatbot on the Eskom website<\/a> to log a fault. The MyEskom Customer App and the Alfred Chatbot allow users to log a fault instantaneously and immediately provide a reference number needed to track progress on the fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers now have the option of contacting Eskom directly via WhatsApp on 08600 37566 to log a fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
