Kosovo shack dwellers in Samora Machel are appealing to the City to assist them in draining the stagnant water on Emagubevini Street.
They said the water had become worse since the heavy rains. Resident Siziwe accused ward 88 councillor Zukisani Sophazi of ignoring them. “Since the heavy rains, the councillor never came here to assess the condition or how we live. We are on our own,” she said.
Sophazi dismissed the allegations and described them as lies. He said he holds a community meeting in the area almost every month.
Sophazi stated that the problem is the old infrastructure that needs to be changed. However, he noted that there is a contractor working in the area trying to resolve the problem.
