Langa police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after two men were shot in a car travelling through Ndabeni Street, Langa on Thursday 25 July. It was reported the driver died on the scene while the passenger was injured and taken to the hospital.

Provincial police spokesperson W/O Joseph Swartbooi said Langa detectives were hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend the suspects.

“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident, on Thursday 25 July in Langa at about 10:40 in Ndabeni Street, are under investigation,” he said.

“On their arrival on the crime scene Langa police found the body of a 33-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. Another adult male, who also sustained gunshot wounds, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

Swartbooi said the motive for the attack had yet to be determined and the suspect/s yet to be arrested.

Ward 51 councillor Lwazi Phakade said the community was shocked by the incident, and they were warned to remain vigilant. He said crime was becoming the norm in Langa.  “We want the law to take its course against the perpetrators. The authorities mustn’t leave any stone unturned.”
