In a wonderful twist of fate a 9-year-old girl from Delft that went missing on Monday 17 November returned home unharmed.
Akahlulwa Qwili went missing and her family, the police and the community were looking all over for her. Everyone feared the worst.
On Wednesday her father, George Thompson, received the great news that his daughter was alive and well.
Where was she?
But where was she for the better part of three weeks?
According to Candice van der Rheeder, founder of the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit, Akahlulwa was found with a family in Crossroads in Khayelitsha.
“She was found walking along the road late at night and was taken good care of. The woman who she stayed with realised she was missing and alerted the dad,” says Van der Rheeder.
Van der Rheedersays she received an early Christmas gift.
“Most children we look for, are found deceased. We were praying and doing everything in our power to find her and our prayers were answered. There are still some children missing, but we praise God for finding Akahlulwa,” says Van der Rheede.
She says the girl is getting all the help she needs.
In as short statement Captain FC van Wyk, police spokesperson said “the child has been found in Crossroads and she is safe and reunited with her family”.
