Community concerns over rising crime in Khayelitsha
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of harassment, said crime remains rife in Khayelitsha and urged the City to deploy more law enforcement officers.
“Carjacking, extortion and gender-based violence are among the crimes dominating in Khayelitsha as a whole. Most of the murders occurring these days are related to extortion,” he said. However, he praised law enforcement officers for the work they are doing.
