A well-known reggae artist Vuyani Qali from Khayelitsha was shot and injured in a suspected carjacking at Ekuphumleni in Khayelitsha on Wednesday 15 May.

Provincial police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg said Lingelethu police registered an attempted murder and carjacking case for investigation following a shooting incident at Mavu Street in Ekuphumleni, Khayelitsha where a 56 year-old-man was shot and wounded.

“According to reports, unknown suspects forced the victim to stop his vehicle. The suspects forcefully removed the victim from his vehicle, shot him and fled the scene with his Toyota light delivery vehicle,” said Twigg, adding that the victim was taken to a medical facility for medical treatment.

Efforts to get a comment from Qali were futile.
