Isivivana, the well-known business hub in Khayelitsha, relaunched its website, an updated version for its tenants, on Friday 7 June.
The event was attended mostly by local organisations.
The centre director, Nombulelo Ndibongo, described the event as a significant day, not only to Isivivana, but the community as a whole.
She said it is also informing the community about other facilities at the centre. “We were also telling them a bit about what the only cinema in the community does. Also, about our library and venue hire. We’re telling them how to hire a space when they need it.”
Ndibongo added they wanted to ensure that people were up to date and informed about the other developments in the centre.
Regarding the previous website, she said users struggled with functionalities.
Ndibongo said Isivivana is catering for everyone. She highlighted there is a café and a meeting hall, which people can use for various purposes, such as weddings, public meetings or events.
According to Ndibongo even the cinema people can use it for annual general meetings. “The centre is always active. We are pleading to anyone who wants to use it to book it in time for the space,” she urged.
Nolubabalo Matumbu, who is a facilitator of Ubomi Centre based at A section in Site C, said the update on the website will make it easier to book for their events. Ubomi is a NGO that deals with young children between 6 and 18 years old and assists them with their school work.“We’ve been struggling to book our events. Sometimes it used to take time to get feedback.”
She hoped everything would go smoothly now the website has been updated.
