Langa police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after two men were shot by unknown men on Thursday 25 July while driving a car at Ndabeni Street.
One of them died on the scene while the passenger was injured and was taken to the hospital.
Provincial police spokesperson W/O Joseph Swartbooi said Langa detectives are hard to apprehend the suspects.
“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Thursday 25 July in Langa at about 10:40 in Ndabeni Street, are under investigation.
“Upon arrival at the crime scene, Langa police found the body of a 33-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
“Another adult male, who also sustained gunshot wounds, was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,” said Swartbooi.
He said the motive for the attack is yet to be determined and the suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
Ward 51 councillor Lwazi Phakade said they are shocked by the incident.
Hen urged the community to stay vigilant at all times. He said crime is becoming a norm in Langa.
“We want the law to take its course against the perpetrators. We are terrified by the incident. And we are concerned about our lives, particularly the children. We need to work together as the community to fight crime in the Langa as a whole,” said Phakade.
