Be the change that you want to see in the world, that is what Thulani Dasa did to Harry Gwala learners in Makhaza.
Dasa, who is the founder of Thulani Dasa Foundation, donated 70 sanitary pads to the Grade 12 learners on Thursday 21.
He described his visit to the school as part of a special campaign dedicated to learners. Through his foundation, Dasa aims to assist and support learners and people who are less fortunate.
“We dedicate this month to learners only. We are visiting schools donating sanitary pads to the needy learners. This is our annual campaign where we try to assist where possible,” he said, adding that his foundation also assists in renovating dilapidated houses. They also donate shoes in Khayelitsha and the surrounding areas.

Dasa highlighted Siphamandla High School (Enkanini), KwaMfundo High School (Harare) and Blouberg Ridge Primary School (Blouberg) as some of the schools that they visited this month.
He stated that the foundation donated over 500 sanitary pads to schools this month. “Our aim is to ensure that there is no learner that misses classes because of the menstruation period. We are also promoting hygiene,” he stated.
First deputy principal Nomvuyiseko Maqhubela said the contribution meant a lot to the school.
She said their learners are desperately in need.
“We are so delighted. It means a lot to us as staff members and learners as well. Most of our learners are coming from disadvantaged communities and can’t afford to buy it on a monthly basis. We believe the little that they have will make a difference,” said Maqhubela.

She described Dasa as an ambitious man who wants to bring change in the community.
“Dasa is a visionary man. The fact that a man can come to school carrying a black plastic bag with sanitary pads shows that he is willing to build the nation,” said Maqhubela and urged other men to follow in his footsteps.
Dasa appealed to the local business people to support his foundation so he can be able to help other people.
