Kuyasa Library careers exhibition guides learners

Kuyasa Principal Librarian Vuyokazi Rani-Njambatwa described the exhibition as an annual event catering for learners in Grade 9 and 10.

“We are trying to bring services closer to the people. It is rare to have these kinds of events in townships. They are usually hosted in towns or at universities. We want to assist learners to make up their minds by choosing their subjects wisely before they reach Grade 12. We are also informing them about the City’s apprenticeship programmes.”

She said the library had hosted the event for three years and it continues to grow every year. Rani-Njambatwa also urged community members to visit libraries, saying they are open to everyone.
“We need people to come to the library and not see it only as a place that keeps books. There are a lot of activities that we do for the community.”

Learner Liyema Dindili (16) from Sizimisele High School said he wanted to study mechanical engineering and described this, his first such event, as helpful. “The exhibition assists us in choosing subjects wisely, and learners are exposed to different courses.”

Uxolo teacher Jerome Maregele said the event was successful and the learners enjoyed it.“It was a good initiative. It guides learners to choose the right subjects. The learners really enjoyed it and had fun.”
