Fashion by Preloved Vintage will be at the French Market on Friday, 9 August.

Beautiful vintage clothes have been a love of hers since childhood.

Sipokazi Mtirara, one of the exhibitors at the French Market at Villa Avianto on Friday, 9 August, says she grew up with her maternal grandmother, Betty, who always wore beautiful clothes.

“She was a boutique shopper; a classy, elegant women who walked with grace.

“I cannot remember a day when she stepped out of the house without a cardigan on her shoulders, and heels.”

Sipokazi says her grandmother followed a beauty routine which she (Betty) passed on to her daughter and, in time, onto Sipokazi.

Her grandmother went on to establish her own successful general trade business, in which Sipokazi worked during school holidays. Sipokazi’s mother, Pakama, later opened hers as well.

Betty died in 1999 and Sipokazi inherited her wardrobe.

“We packed it all away and I finally unpacked it during my 30’s. There was not a single item that was not of good, quality material.”

Sipokazi saw a gap in the market, and this is how Pre-Loved Vintage was borned. “We handpicked our beautiful vintage, quality coats and jackets and some vintage-inspired clothes, which we sell in markets.”

Check out her beautiful clothes at the stall at the French Market.

The market opens at 09:00 and entry, on account of Women’s Day, is R30.

The first 200 women at the market will receive a special gift pack.
