A Bloemfontein hospital celebrating its 35th birthday on Sunday, 20 July, prompted a gesture of goodwill.

In remembrance of Nelson Mandela and in celebration of this significant milestone, the Mediclinic Bloemfontein donated 35 Boxes of Warmth to the Gladstone Children’s Home in Bayswater.

In a thoughtful act of community support, the team repurposed recycled tea boxes and filled them with winter essentials, including a beanie, a pair of gloves, a box of instant soup, teabags, and biscuits or rusks.

In addition, the creative staff members crafted specialised toys for the children using recycled 2-litre cold drink bottles, bringing joy and smiles to young faces.

The handover took place on Friday, 18 July, with participation from staff members across the hospital, including the general hospital manager.

The event concluded with a picnic shared with the children and the house mother of the Gladstone Children’s Home, creating cherished memories for all involved.
