Bloemfontein’s Mika-Leigh Strydom won the U15 individual race at the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships in Bath, England, on Saturday (19/08).

The young athlete, who is a Gr. 9 learner of the Eunice High School, improved the winning time of 2022 with 14 seconds. This makes her the new U15 world champion in this age group.

Mika-Leigh and her teammates, Megan Kleinhans and Tatiana Tomathos, also won the girls U15 gold team medal.

In the mixed relay on Sunday, Mika-Leigh and her teammate from Mosselbaai, Johan Schoeman, finished in second place.
