Part of the St Michael’s School for Girls’ 150 year celebrations, is a school play named Timeless.

Henry van Coller, writer of the historical part of the play, says it tells parts of the history of the school, but in a fun way.

“There is a lot of history in 150 years, but we only use snippets to tell the story. From the beginning we promised that it would be fun and no dreary history lesson.”

Amanda van Eeden, who also worked on the production helping to entwine the old with the new, says the story is told in a modern-day setting, giving brief glances back in time.

“Learners from Gr. 1 to matric take part in the production, and they are all very excited,” she says.

“With the play we take from the history and show a bright future ahead,” Van Coller said about the golden thread keeping it all together in this production, with its very relevant name.

Timeless will be on stage on 15 and 16 August at 18:00 in the Wynand Mouton Theatre on the main campus of the University of the Free State (UFS).

Tickets cost R50 and are available on webtickets.co.za.
