The St Andrew\u2019s School will be hosting its Invitational Squash Festival from Friday, 7 February, until Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As always, the main objective of this tournament is to provide an opportunity for the young Free State Squash players to play against other top squash players in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In doing so, they will obtain the necessary exposure and experience they require in order to compete successfully with the other provinces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the 31st consecutive year the event will be hosted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The festival was established in 1995 when resources were limited. The Morgan and Deutschmann families set out to lay the foundations of a hugely successful festival with sponsorship from First National Bank, which continued for 28 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the third consecutive year that Standard Bank has been on board to support the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nine school teams and one invitational team attended the inaugural festival in 1995. The participating schools included: Dale College, Graeme College, Grey College, Maritzburg College, Potchefstroom High School for Boys, Pretoria Boys\u2019 High School, St Alban\u2019s College, St Andrew\u2019s School and St Stithian\u2019s College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the festival is a major event on the national squash calendar, with 24 teams participating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grey College, Maritzburg College, Pretoria Boys\u2019 High, St Andrew\u2019s School and St Stithian\u2019s College will participate once again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pretoria Boys\u2019 High, Grey College and St Andrew\u2019s have attended all 31 these events throughout the years, with Selborne College having attended 30 of the 31 events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
