Twee atlete van die Martie du Plessis-skool in Bloemfontein is gekies om aan drie nasionale kampioenskappe deel te neem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bianca Hugo, atletiekhoof by die skool, s\u00ea hulle is baie trots op Rubin du Toit en Joan\u00e9 de Bruyn (albei in gr. 11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit is beslis vir ons \u2019n hoogtepunt dat di\u00e9 twee vir drie kampioenskappe gekies is. Hulle vaar al die hele seisoen uitstekend en het altwee al rekords verbeter.\u201d<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die twee leerlinge het altwee \u2019n besonderse storie. Rubin het net 20% gehoor in sy regteroor en het aanvanklik baie gesukkel in \u2019n hoofstroom-skool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy ouers het hom in gr. 5 na Martie du Plessis geskuif, en hy het homself geleer liplees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy het aan sport begin deelneem as teenvoeter vir sy aandag-afleibaarheid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hugo s\u00ea Rubin het aan atletieknommers soos verspring deelgeneem, maar hulle het besef hoogspring is sy nommer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op die Vrystaat-atletiekbyeenkoms vir skole met leerlinge met spesiale onderwysbehoeftes (LSOB-skole), wat op 28 Februarie gehou is, het Rubin die byeenkomsrekord verbeter deur 1,93 m te spring. Hy het egter sy persoonlike beste op die Ho\u00ebrskool Sentraal se Top 20-byeenkoms behaal, met 1,95 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy gaan van Donderdag 21 Maart tot Saterdag aan Atletiek Suid-Afrika (ASA) se byeenkoms vir senior atlete in Pretoria deelneem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van 3 tot 6 April gaan hy aan die LSOB-skole se nasionale byeenkoms in die Paarl deelneem, hoewel hy ook gekies is om aan die nasionale byeenkoms, wat in dieselfde tyd aangebied word, mee te ding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joan\u00e9 het as baba baie trauma beleef nadat sy op 32 weke gebore is. Dit het \u2019n groeivertraging genaamd duodenale atresie tot gevolg gehad. Sy het reeds op vier dae \u2019n operasie ondergaan om di\u00e9 toestand te herstel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kort daarna het sy drie operasies aan haar derms gehad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vandag het sy net geringe probleme met haar derms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy ly egter aan erge disleksie, sukkel om te onthou en ly aan aandag-afleibaarheid, maar op die atletiekbaan wys sy behoorlik hakke vir haar mededingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op die LSOB-skole se Vrystaat-byeenkoms op 28 Februarie het sy in die 800 m \u2019n rekord opgestel deur die nommer vir o.19-meisies te wen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op 8 Maart op die Vrystaat-ho\u00ebrskole-atletiekbyeenkoms was sy eerste in die 1 500 m en die 5 000 m, en op Atletiek Vrystaat se byeenkoms op 1 Maart was sy ook eerste in di\u00e9 baan-tems in die o.20-afdeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy gaan nou ook deelneem aan die LSOB-skole se nasionale kampioenskap, asook die ASA se senior kampioenskap hierdie naweek.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
