A month before the season finale of the South African National Cross Country Motorcycle Championship, Motorsport South Africa (MSA) announced that racing legend Louwrens Mahoney will take over the reigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahoney, a multiple South African national champion and three-time winner of the Roof of Africa, along with his wife, Marilyn, will officially take over as Chairman and Vice Chairperson of the MSA Cross Country Motorcycle Working Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This following the double header this weekend in Upington, from Kyle Enslin and Deanne Ballington respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MSA Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Scholtz, thanked Enslin and Ballington for their service and support for the series. He said that, in addition to his impeccable racing pedigree, Mahoney is no stranger to event management having previously served as race director in 2016 for the South African Cross Country Series (SACC) for the national motorcycles and quads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then later, he was the race director of the popular GXCC Racing Series for four years, followed by race director of the 2023 Roof of Africa Hard Enduro. \u201cWe believe he will bring a high level of professionalism and excitement to the championship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scholtz says Mahoney will manage the season finale in Bloemfontein on 14 September \u2013 a dramatic conclusion to a series filled with high-speed action and some top-class strategic racing and then continue as the Championship promoter for the 2025 series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
