‘n Bejaarde vrou en haar seun van Extonweg in Hilton, Bloemfontein wag reeds 18 dae vir Centlec om die krag na hul huis te herstel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die kragkabel tussen hul huis en die aansluiting in die straat is stukkend, waarskynlik weens kabeldiefstal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pieter Lotriet, die DA-wyksraadslid vir Hilton insluit, s\u00ea die inwoners het presies gedoen wat Centlec van hulle vereis het om die voorval aan te meld. Hy s\u00ea waar slegs een huis se krag deur diefstal of beskadiging geraak is, moet die voorval by Centlec se kantore op voorgeskrewe vorms aangemeld word. Die inwoners moet self die saak by die polisie aanmeld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy s\u00ea die inwoners het dit gedoen en het ‘n verwysingsnommer, maar wag steeds dat die kabel herstel word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lotriet s\u00ea hy het self die saak by die voormalige uitvoerende hoof en ook die waarnemende hoof van Centlec aangemeld omdat die inwoners reeds moedeloos is. Hulle het egter ges\u00ea dat die saak reeds aan die betrokke afdeling gedelegeer is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ds. Jannie Smith van die NG kerk Bloemdal in wie se gemeente die inwoners val, het ook probeer ingryp. Hy s\u00ea dit is ongehoord dat mense in die donker en koue moet sit terwyl hulle elke maand hul rekeninge betaal. “Waarom word die slagoffers soos kriminele behandel? Die boodskap wat deurkom is dat Centlec geen respek vir inwoners het, ongeag of hul, hul rekeninge betaal nie.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lotriet s\u00ea wanneer al die blokkies afgemerk is, al die vorms ingevul is, al die be\u00ebdigde verklarings ingedien is en al die vrae gevra is, moet iemand tog uiteindelik die krag herstel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die benadering herinner my aan ‘n Sheriff Trump in ‘n Hollywood-western wat besluit dat, omdat sommige ski-bote langs die kus van Venezuela dalk dwelms smokkel, die logiese oplossing is om elke ski-boot wat hy sien uit die water te skiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dit mag dalk ‘n doeltreffende manier wees om misdadigers vas te trek, maar dit skep ongelukkig sekere probleme vir onskuldige vissermanne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dieselfde beginsel geld hier. Ons kan nie elke slagoffer van kabeldiefstal as ‘n verdagte behandel nie. Die doel van ‘n ondersoek is om skuldiges te identifiseer waar skuld bestaan, nie om wetsgehoorsame inwoners vir onbepaalde tye sonder ‘n noodsaaklike diens te laat sit nie.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy s\u00ea indien daar ‘n geldige rede vir die vertraging is, behoort dit gekommunikeer te word. Indien nie, behoort die probleem sonder verdere versuim opgelos te word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith s\u00ea dit is onregverdig dat bejaardes en gewone inwoners ly weens Centlec<\/a> se onbevoegdheid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ons verstaan dat kabeldiefstal ‘n realiteit is en daarom moet Centlec<\/a> bel\u00ea in ‘n verbeterde veiligheidsafdeling,” s\u00ea Lotriet. “Onskuldige inwoners moet nie daaroor gestraf word nie.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
