Bloemfontein Police was crowned champions of the Free State Challenge Cup following a gripping and hard-fought final against the Collegians Rugby Club at the Pres Steyn High School.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In what proved to be a true spectacle of club rugby, Bloemfontein Police edged out Collegians 17\u201313 in a tightly contested encounter on 27 March that kept supporters on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teams displayed immense determination, physicality and tactical discipline, delivering a final worthy of the occasion.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The match highlighted the very best of Free State club rugby, with neither side willing to give an inch in a battle defined by resilience and passion. Bloemfontein Police ultimately held their nerve to secure the victory and claim the prestigious title.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to lifting the trophy, Bloemfontein Police walked away with the winner’s prize money of R25 000 \u2013 a fitting reward for their outstanding performances throughout the competition.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coenraad Klopper, Free State Rugby Union (FSRU<\/a>) president, praised both teams for an exceptional final and the overall success of the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“On behalf of the Free State Rugby Union Council, I extend my sincere congratulations to Bloemfontein Police on their well-deserved victory,” said Klopper. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This final showcased everything that makes club rugby special: passion, intensity and community pride. Credit must also go to Collegians for pushing them all the way. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Club and Competitions Committee for their hard work in delivering a successful tournament, under the guidance of Deputy President Jan-Hendrik Cronje as chairperson of the Club and Competitions Committee. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Challenge Cup has again demonstrated the strength of our clubs and the exciting future of rugby in the Free State.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
