BLOEMFONTEIN –<\/strong> Die Mangaung-metro se konsepbegroting steek ‘n groot verhoging in eiendomsbelasting weg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So s\u00ea Tjaart van der Walt, DA-wyksraadslid: “Terwyl die Mangaung-metro beweer eiendomswaardes het met tussen 14% en 25% gestyg, wys die konsepbegroting die teendeel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Volgens die voorgestelde begroting gaan die waardasies met tot 49% op sedert die vorige aanpassing in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die 5%-tarriefverlaging wat voorgestel word, sal beslis nie hierdie verhoging uitkanselleer nie,” s\u00ea Van der Walt. “Die R80 000 vrystelling bied ook min verligting. Die resultaat is eenvoudig – inwoners gaan meer betaal.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die konsepbegroting wat tydens Maandag 30 Maart se raadsvergadering voorgehou is, projekteer dat die verhoging in inkomste uit eiendomsbelasting sowat 33% meer sal wees. “So ‘n beraamde inkomste in ‘n stad met swak ekonomiese groei en lae betalingsvlakke, sal inwoners net verder belas, dit moeiliker maak vir inwoners om hul rekenings te betaal en die metro se geldelike probleme vererger.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die DA doen nou ‘n beroep op die metro se uitvoerende burgemeester, Gregory Nthatisi, om ‘n onafhanklike oudit van die waardasierol te laat doen, te verduidelik hoekom eiendomswaardes met 49% verhoog het en verduidelik hoe verskillende huishoudings geraak word en hoe die impak verminder gaan word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van der Walt s\u00ea die DA vra ook nou vir ‘n billike kortingstelsel soos wat Kaapstad gebruik, waarop verligting op die waarde van eiendom deur inkomste bepaal word. In Mangaung is daar slegs betalingsverligting vir inwoners wat minder as R7 000 verdien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Terwyl die stad Kaapstad se verhogings van eiendomswaardasies gemiddeld ongeveer 7% is en inwoners ‘n tariefverlaging van 10% betaal, wil Mangaung inwoners belas met ‘n 33% eiendomstariefverhoging, wat onredelik is.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van der Walt s\u00ea Mangaung se plan belas inwoners en loop die risiko om dienste en betalingskoerse te verminder. ” ‘n Verantwoordelike begroting moet inwoners beskerm en groei ondersteun – hierdie konsep doen nie een van die twee nie.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
