BLOEMFONTEIN<\/strong>: The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State will host its inaugural Half-Marathon in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 11 October, to spur on running patrons to take up the challenge of a healthy lifestyle. The one-day sporting event is set to bring together athletes both the police and the community to support a noble cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event makes provision for 5km, 10km and 21km races. Entry starts at R80 per race per person. A temporary licence fee can be paid for the 10km and 21km runs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the police, proceeds from the marathon will go towards the South African Police Service Education Trust (SAPSET). This is an initiative dedicated to supporting the education of children of police members who lost their lives in the line of duty. Established in 2010, SAPSET provides vital financial and resource support, covering educational costs from Gr. R through to tertiary level. Expenses include tuition fees, stationery, and school uniforms, ensuring that the children of fallen heroes have access to quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While it aims at promoting health, wellness and fitness, it also supports the spirit of solidarity and remembrance for officers killed in the line of duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Parties interested to enter the marathon can contact race director Col.
