The latest efforts saw several refurbished desks reintroduced at the Nzame Primary School in Bloemfontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is thanks to the basic artisan skills of two male inmates, who used their craft to revamp more than 100 desks. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To perform these repairs, the pair used skills they had acquired at Gootvlei. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inmates&#8217; ability is evident in the restoration of the desks to their original condition.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Nzame-PS-learners-happy-having-revamped-desks-1024x847.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-267061\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Teachers and learners celebrate after receiving revamped desks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The desks were returned to the school ahead of the start of the third school term on 22 July.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sepheto Skosana, headmaster of Nzame, said the two inmates&#8217; contribution was far-reaching in enabling learners to continue learning \u2212 and also avoided 100 desks being wasted. He presented a certificate of appreciation to each. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The correctional centre is involved in school programmes as part of a community programme, while inmates participate as part of the second chance programme aimed at reuniting them with the community as part of a life-changing initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Correctional center continued its
