Soon foodies from across the country will gather on the Free State farm De Oude Kraal outside Bloemfontein to enjoy a day of excellent food and South Africa’s top wines.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spread prepared by Marie Lombard and her team for De Oude Kraal’s WildsKOS Festival on Saturday, 7 June, will delight everyone who appreciates good food.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus is on the perfect preparation of venison in a variety of ways to delight meat-lovers. For those reluctant to springbok, blesbok, wild boar and even the exotic offering of crocodile, there are the stalls with lamb, beef and poultry that also never dissapoints. Add to that salads, sauces, and side dishes for those needing a variety, the WildsKOSfees is a treat for all. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine lovers can taste wines from well-known estates such as Anthonij Rupert, Babylonstoren, Beyerskloof, Capensis, Cederberg, Diemersfontein, De Krans, Diemersdal, Glen Carlou, Jakkalsvlei, Kranskop, Kleine Zalze, Meerhof, Neil Ellis, Paul Cl\u00fcver, Raka, Rickety Bridge, Sanniesrust, Warwick, Spier and Thelema. Visitors can taste a variety of wines from each of the 22 wine stalls and have the options to buy the wine on their way home.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerhard Lombard of De Oude Kraal says the wines from the different wine regions makes the festival a perfect destination to taste some of the top wines not always available on the shelves in stores. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This wine experience promises to enrich festival-goers’ wine knowledge,” says Gerhard.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The festival’s layout is such that visitors can easily move between stalls to taste different wines and game dishes. Each wine stall will be accompanied by an appropriate game dish or side dish, ensuring a delicious culinary adventure.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“We look forward to treating festival-goers to the region’s best food and wine pairings at the 24 food stalls each with five to six dishes of 16 types of venison.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be plenty for children to do, as well as a special rate for children aged 13 to 16. Activities for young and old include target shooting with a .22 rifle as well as clay pigeon shooting, horseback riding, or a ride on the tractor and wagon. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For even greater fun, participate in the kudu spitting competition. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
