{"id":302520,"date":"2022-08-03T04:01:47","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T02:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/new-queen-to-take-crown-20220802\/"},"modified":"2022-08-03T04:01:47","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T02:01:47","slug":"new-queen-to-take-crown-20220802","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/bloemnewsexpress\/new-queen-to-take-crown-20220802\/","title":{"rendered":"New queen to take crown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This year\u2019s Miss South Africa Plus World pageant makes provision for an audience to be part of live proceedings as part of the crowning on Saturday (06\/08) in the Bloemfontein Civic Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The audience will be able to witness 11 contestants strutting their stuff on the catwalk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021 a virtual event was held to keep alive this pageant, which is exclusive for full-figured women to showcase their natural beauty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceedings will start on Friday with prejudging at the Bon Hotel, where finalists from across South Africa will meet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a celebration of women in the different categories,\u201d said Samuel \u201cChief\u201d Leeuw, franchise director and organiser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He introduced the pageant in South Africa in 2016. It offers winners a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to represent South Africa and compete for the coveted title against winners from other countries participating in the contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <s1>Mammone Aphiri<\/s1> from Rustenburg is the latest contestant to do so. She competed in the international leg held in Houton, Texas, in May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first were Dipolelo Hou from Botshabelo and Puleng Direko from Bloemfontein, who competed in the event in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other previous winners include Tondani Sikhwari from Limpopo, Murunwa Mphigalale from Johannesburg and Kenalemang Itholeng from Bloemfontein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outgoing queen Aphiri will hand over the crown on Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets for the crowning cost R200 and will be available at the door on the day of the event.
