This year\u2019s Spar Women\u2019s Virtual Challenge is set, and communities are encouraged to get involved in the partnership with parkrun South Africa to do a physical run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership is aimed at making provision for mass participation for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemicpandemic<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Virtual Challenge was launched in 2020 amid the pandemic, allowing South Africans of all walks of life to participate in the event in solidarity during a time of uncertainty and strife. This will be the third time the event is held. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership with parkrun provides participants with a safe space to come together as a community on 3 September at any of the 176 venues countrywide. It will allow entrants to get active, organise fun-filled running events, jog, walk, skip or even do dance challenges at their own pace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entries are limited to 60 000 participants. Challenge activities can take various forms and can continue for any length of time between 06:00 and 18:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parkrun registration is once-off, while participants should remember to bring their parkrun barcode to the venue to ensure their results are registered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most parkruns in South Africa start at 08:00. However, each venue may be different, so it is advisable for participants to check the website of the specific event for their starting time. For more information on the parkrun partnership click here.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry to the Spar Women\u2019s Virtual Challenge costs R120, and every participant will receive a virtual challenge pack. This includes an official T-shirt, access to the My Virtual Challenge<\/span><\/span>digital magazine, a neck gaiter and a medal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, there are even more ways to join in the fun online. Participants can visit sparvirtualchallenge.co.za to generate their race number and finishing line certificate \u2013 perfect for those pre- and post-race selfies. Use #IRise and #SparVirtualChallenge when posting to join the challenge community online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
