This much-needed relief includes, but is not limited to, food and clothing for the disaster-stricken residents of the Charlesville township. The collapse of the tailings dam has displaced more than 160 people who witnessed the destruction of their homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident affected the town\u2019s infrastructure, which then impacted the power and water supply. To alleviate water issues, Avbob has donated three water storage tanks for water harvesting, in addition to clothes, food and hygiene products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe gesture by the mutual assurance society amounts to R134 000 in financial value,\u201d said Desree Mokhoiting, Avbob\u2019s area manager for funeral services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the relief was organised in partnership with Rise Against Hunger. The goods were delivered on 12 October at the predetermined one-stop-area at the Dutch Reformed Church. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
