A fleet management officer at the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) offices in Bloemfontein is facing charges of fraud involving R100 000 on the agency\u2019s petrol card for private use. The suspect Jim Mohau Ntsasa (48) briefly appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate\u2019s Court today, 4 November, following his arrest in the early morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was granted bail of R3 000 and is set to reappear in court on 9 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ntsasa\u2019s arrest by the Bloemfontein-based Hawks\u2019 Serious Corruption Investigation team regards the alleged misuse of a state petrol card following an investigation launched in April this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capt. Christopher Singo, provincial spokesperson of the Hawks, said a preliminary audit conducted at the Bloemfontein-based DPP offices discovered certain irregular transactions. \u201cTransactions were processed at a filling station in Bloemfontein. Investigations discovered that the suspect was using the petrol card to refill diesel in his private vehicle. The DPP\u2019s vehicle, for which the petrol card is meant, had been taken for repairs at the garage at the time he allegedly was using the petrol card for private use,\u201d said Singo. He said further probing revealed the incident took place during the period of December 2020 until 31 October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
