The Director of Public Prosecutions\u2019 (DPP) fleet manager in Bloemfontein, Jim Mohau Ntsasa (48), is expected back in the dock of the Bloemfontein Magistrate\u2019s Court on Friday (09\/12). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is facing charges of fraud related to the alleged misuse of the DPP\u2019s petrol card for his own benefit. Granted bail of R3 000, Ntsasa first appeared in court on 4 November following his arrest in the early hours of that morning by the Hawks\u2019 Serious Corruption Investigation team based in Bloemfontein. An investigation was launched in April after an audit conducted at the Bloemfontein-based DPP offices had revealed irregular transactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to preliminary findings, the petrol card was used to purchase diesel at one specific filling station in Bloemfontein. Further probing revealed that the fraudulent transactions took place between December 2020 and 31 October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elite crime fighting unit\u2019s investigation has developed to include the prospects of collusion, due to the transactions with the petrol card being processed at the same filling station each and every time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The money involved in the fraudulent transactions reportedly amounted to more than R100 000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capt. Christopher Singo, provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, confirmed that Ntsasa was the only suspect thus far. He added that the investigation was ongoing to bring more culprits to book given the possibility of collusion. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
