The Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, and electricity distributor Centlec have signed a memorandum of understanding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The document, signed on 14 November, states the parties will share their expertise and work closely together to reach a shared goal of empowering employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The varsity will make its faculties available for the purposes of im\u00adproving employees\u2019 skills and offering classes for the attainment of qualifications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Alfred Ngowi, acting vice-chancellor and principal of the CUT, stated that this agreement was testimony to the university\u2019s commitment to creating networks and advancing the development of the Mangaung community through advancing skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will conduct experiential training and applied research for Centlec employees using our state-of-the-art machinery, and vice versa,\u201d said Ngowi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe university also pledges its commitment and support for the activities of both participants in this agreement.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Malefane Sekoboto, chief executive officer (CEO) of Centlec who is also a CUT alumnus, the positive impact of the institution on educating the community is far-reaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that roughly between 60% and 70% of the entity\u2019s technical personnel, especially the technicians, had studied and graduated at the CUT. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, you can see the impact that the CUT has already had in educating our technical staff.
